Hello!! Welcome to what is sure to be an exciting year at Desert Oasis Elementary School!

I am anxious and looking forward to the upcoming 2018-2019 school year! It is important to me that each learner's experience in fifth and sixth grade is a rewarding one. I am interested in each and every student and would like to furnish an educational experience that provides a safe and positive learning environment.

My lessons will be based on challenging academic standards and will meet the needs of all my learners. They will be provided with an environment that will allow for: group and individual instruction, daily practice of skills, hands-on experiences, project-based learning, technology integration, self-esteem development, a sense of responsibility and respect for oneself, as well as others.

For all this to happen, I need your support. Part of the learning process is making mistakes, so please don't expect your child to be perfect at everything. Please see that your child completes their assignments on time. The purpose of homework assignments is to review work to reinforce what has been taught and practiced in the class.

I feel as though open lines of communication between the parent, student, and teacher are the key to promoting an educational climate that is conducive to learning. I am looking forward to working with you and your learner. Our classroom site is a place to keep you the parents and learners informed of classroom happenings, so visit frequently.  Please keep an eye out for weekly newsletters announcing upcoming projects, updates on classroom activities, special dates,  and informing you of special needs our classroom might have. Make sure to send in a current working email address so that you can receive up to date happening in the classroom.  If you have any questions throughout the year, please do not hesitate to contact me. A note, e-mail, or phone call to request a meeting time in advance will help me give you and your learner my undivided attention. I am looking forward to meeting you and your learner, and working with you this year, as we help your learner reach his or her maximum potential and experience the joys of learning.

Classroom supplies are limited and we use them wisely. Any donations you can make will be greatly appreciated. Art supplies (markers, colored pencils, glue)paper is always in high demand, Clorox wipes, tissues, whiteboard markers. A BIG thank you to all who have donated supplies to our classroom!
Electronic resources and technology will be used often in our classroom. This may mean fewer papers coming home but it also means your students are developing technology skills that will benefit them in the future. (please remember to send in your media release form).  Students may also access their work through the Microsoft Office 365 portal.
