I am so excited to start my 5th year as the Proud Principal of Desert Oasis Elementary. The past few years have been an incredible journey, and I look forward to yet another year to continue this amazing journey!

This is my 21st year in education: I have worked from the preschool level all the way up to middle school. I am the proud mother of three incredible children--Ashley is 21 and going to be a senior in college at Illinois State University, Caden who is 11 and in 6th grade, and Grayce who is 8 and in 3rd grade. Caden and Grayce both attend Desert Oasis. My children astonish me every day, and I love being a Mom! During my free time I love to do outdoor activities from camping to boating to 4-wheeling. I also love to read and I am a lifelong learner.

Over the past few years there have been many exciting changes at the school. I am so grateful to have been part of the positive changes and growth here at Desert Oasis! For our returning families, all of us here at Desert Oasis are thrilled that you have entrusted your children's education to us again for another year. For our new families, we welcome you to our school community! At Desert Oasis we will make EVERY effort to help your children achieve success both academically and socially. It is our goal to create an enriching learning environment that engages each and every learner, no exceptions! We welcome the support and cooperation of our parents and guardians. You play a key role in the academic success of our learners; therefore school/parent communication is crucial.
Desert Oasis Elementary has a devoted and exceptional teaching staff who possess a wealth of knowledge. Our staff is dedicated to building a safe, compassionate community of lifelong learners who are scholars, creators, critical thinkers, and problem solvers. We believe high expectations yield academic transformation for all students. We continue to be committed to doing our part to ensure your children achieve academic excellence.
Here at Desert Oasis we use two different programs. One is called High Trust and the other is Capturing Kids Hearts. Learners, along with their classmates and teacher, will create a Social Contract at the beginning of each year on classroom expectations. We use hand signals to communicate and create positive interactions between learners.
As the leader of the Roadrunner Family, I strongly believe that every child can grow--so at Desert Oasis we are in the business of growing every child. In order to achieve the highest level of academic success for every child and to ensure that each child receives the proper preparation and support, Desert Oasis has implemented a learning environment that consists of grade level bands: K-2, 3-5, 6-8. Every learner is on an individual plan to make sure that s/he is successful in every area.
Our instructional program is far more effective with your active participation. Your presence on campus is not only welcomed, but it is greatly needed! We encourage volunteers; an application is available in the front office. Please remember that you do need your Driver's License to enter our campus, the safety of our learners is very important to us and with all of the new home building in our area, it is important that we know who is entering the campus. We really appreciate your patience and support with this policy.
At Desert Oasis we believe in solving problems and going to solution so if you have a concern, we have an open door policy and want to support you in anyway we can!
My staff and I look forward to working with each and every one of you this year, and we welcome all new and returning learners! Together as a team we will make this school year another incredible year at Desert Oasis!!!
